A collection of acclaimed local films by local director Eric Khoo is now available on DVD!

The ERIC KHOO DIRECTOR’S COLLECTION DVD BOXSET is a compilation of 5 feature films and 3 short films, 2 of which have never been released on DVD before! This is the first time the restored versions of Mee Pok Man and 12 Storeys are released on DVD. The Eric Khoo Director’s collection DVD box set allows you to relish every awe-inspiring, heart-warming and tear-jerking moments on DVD and understand how these award-winning films put Singapore on the international film map!

Mee Pok Man, staring Michelle Goh and Lim Kay Tong, tells the story of a noodle vendor’s infatuation with a delusional prostitute. Variety had commended the film, saying that it was an “impressive directorial debut”.

12 Storeys portrays the struggles and hardships of several people living in the same building. The film stars Jack Neo a hawker struggling to pacify his money-hungry wife, played by Quan Yi Fong. The couple are neighbours to siblings portrayed by Boon Pin Koh and Lum May Yee. The film was screened at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.

Be With Me is inspired by the true story of deaf and blind teacher Theresa Poh Lin Chan, who stars in the film as herself. Based on the life and short stories of Yoshihiro Tatsumi, Tatsumi is an animation which pays tribute to the Japanese manga artist who invented the gekiya style of alternative comics in Japan. The Hollywood Reporter described the film as an “unutterably sad, yet indescribably beautiful” film.

My Magic stars Bosco Francis as a struggling alcoholic father striving for his son’s love. The heart-warming feature became Singapore’s first ever film to be nominated for the Palme D’or at the Cannes Film Festival.

No Day Off is a short film recounting the harsh working conditions of an Indonesian domestic helper, Siti. The film celebrated director Eric Khoo’s return to the short film genre after a series of critically acclaimed feature films.

Introducing the 2 new short films, Wanton Mee and Cinema, available on DVD for the first time! The former is a film showing the history of Singapore’s street food scene and how the iconic local dishes were created. The fictional documentary represented Singapore at the Berlin International Film Festival’s 10th Culinary Cinema. The latter is Eric Khoo’s contribution to the internationally renowned SG50 anthology 7 Letters and was also screened at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado.

ERIC KHOO DIRECTOR’S COLLECTION DVD boxset is distributed by Clover Films and available for sale at SGD$89.90 at Kinokuniya Bookstores of Singapore and all video stores.
