3. JOHN GOODMAN (JOHN CHAMBERS DVD Q&A)
Q: Why did you want to do this movie?  What attracted you to the project?
  • John: We get scripts all the time and you plow through them, and this one just was a joy to read; and as good as the script was, the movie just exceeded everything.

Q: You play John Chambers, a character based on real person from Hollywood who passed away several years ago. Did you ever have the chance to meet him?
  • John: No, I knew people that knew him.  He was at an age where they started using prosthetics and applying them into makeup and he was at the vanguard of this in the late '60s.  He was the first makeup artist who won an Academy Award. I believe a lot of the current makeup artists have learned from him. It's a very honorable profession, and to think that this man served his country doing what he loved to do is pretty amazing.

Q: Can you describe Ben Affleck as a director?
  • John: Ben Affleck is a terrific director.  It's hard to believe that he's only got three films under his belt. Those three films were great films and this one's a masterpiece, I think.  He knows every aspect of the business. He's a film encyclopedia. He's great. He loves the movies, but he thinks in cinematic terms. It's like the guy was born to direct.  He's got this great intelligence and he's a great storyteller.
