Co-director Lim Koong Hwee wants to give local moviegoers something different with TIMELESS LOVE!

The highly-anticipated local film, Timeless Love 《那个夏天》, is coming to theaters soon, on 8 March 2012! Starring a host of mostly youngish-looking cast including Joshua Ang (洪赐健), Aloysius Pang (冯伟衷), Kimberly Chia (谢静仪), Xu Bin (徐彬), Michelle Tay (郑荔分), Eugene Lim (林建辰), Josephine Chan (陈映珍), and Taiwanese actress Cynthia Ruby Wang (王心如), Timeless Love sees Dasmond Koh (许振荣) making his feature debut as a director, with veteran Lim Koong Hwee (林坤辉) as co-director.

InCinemas sat down with Koong Hwee for an enlightening chat about the making of the film, his thoughts on Dasmond, and some interesting tidbits he would like to share!
A glance at the poster for Timeless Love 《那个夏天》 evokes a fresh feeling that is rarely felt from a local movie poster. It feels like a poster for a new Taiwanese film. When asked if he had any creative inspiration from You Are the Apple of My Eye 《那些年，我们一起追的女孩。》 (2011), the critical and box-office hit from Taiwanese writer-director Giddens Ko, Koong Hwee said no.
He explained that he wanted to shoot something different, a film that
was set on an island and next to the seaside. "We wanted to make a film
that is different from the usual local fare, to go into a new
direction," Koong Hwee said. "We want to give local audiences more
variety from standard genres like horror or comedy."

Koong Hwee was very impressed with Dasmond's handling of the cast even though the latter was a first-time director. "Dasmond tried to cater to each actor's personality to bring out his or her individual performance as required from the role."

Koong Hwee also revealed that getting Cynthia Ruby Wang to star as the beautiful grandmother in her younger days was Dasmond's idea. "Some parts of the dialogue she spoke too quickly, so we had to ask her to speak more slowly. But she is an actress who can act naturally," Koong Hwee said.
- Cynthia Ruby Wang is a Taiwanese Mandopop singer and actress. She'll be starring as a grandmother in Timeless Love where she exists as a memory of Morgan (played by Aloysius Pang).

In the film's poster, you should be able to spot a brown teddy bear sitting on one of the Chinese characters of the film's title. Koong Hwee talked about the significance of the bear in some detail. "It was also Dasmond's idea. His idea was to have something that could close the distance between the film and the audience, especially to connect to the younger ones," he explained. "Timeless Love is about friendship, romance, and loved ones. No matter what challenges you face in life, you will go through it. It is how you go through it that is the film's main message."

Finally, when asked if he had any box-office expectations for the film, Koong Hwee said the target was S$800,000, but he hoped to break the S$1 million mark.
