Canadian-Chinese actor, Ludi Lin (Power Rangers, Black Mirror) is said to be a shortlisted candidate to star in Marvel’s Shang-Chi, MCU’s first Asian superhero.

According to That Hashtag Show, another contender that the Studios is looking at is Ross Butler, who played Zach Dempsey in 13 Reasons Why on Netflix and Reggie Mantle in the first season of Riverdale

"It’s definitely something I want to do," Lin told ScreenRant in late 2018 following the movie's announcement. "To do an Asian-centric superhero. To tell that story. I mean ideally, I’d like to design my own superhero, make my own creation. But I think the Marvel world is pretty incredible as well. Especially in honor of Stan Lee, the person who created this entire, I mean like an entire universe. You know what I mean? It's pretty incredible. And I think it would be great because it would take another big step towards representation."

It was previously reported that martial arts legend Donnie Yen was going to be involved in the project in an undisclosed role. Rumours believe that he will be cast as the ‘wise, old statesman’ which Marvel was looking for. The IP Man star had previously starred in Rouge One: A Star Wars Story as the blind Force devotee Chirrut Imwe - a fan favourite, if anything.

Both Lin and Butler have appeared in recent DC films - Lin as Murk in Aquaman, and Butler as the adult Eugene Choi in Shazam!.

Who are you rooting for? Team Lin or Team Bulter?
