Scratching your head at the box office? Here are our recommendations:

Pirates of The Caribbean 5: Salazar’s Revenge

Here is another swashbuckling adventure with Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). In this film, Jack seeks the Trident of Poseidon in order to defeat his old nemesis, Armando Salazar (Javier Bardem). We will get to see not only the return of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) whom we last saw in the third film a decade ago, but also their son Henry Turner (Brenton Thwaites).

Lucky Boy

‘Ah Boys To Men’ star Wang Weiliang plays Lin Yu, a boy with an unlucky streak. Watch him as he grew up against the backdrop of Singapore in 1970s as he pines for Qing Qing (Venus Wong). In the midst of summer action blockbusters, this local romantic comedy would be a perfect date film in May.

Alien: Covenant

Ridley Scott returns in this sequel to ‘Prometheus’ in his ‘Alien’ franchise. Just like the plot of its predecessor, the crew of Covenant explored a planet that has more to it than meets the eye. The film stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, and Billy Crudup. A good old alien horror film is always welcome.

29+1

Turning 30 can be a significant milestone in life. The film follows two single women, Christy Lam (Chrissie Chau) and Wong Tin-Lok (Joyce Cheng) who became roommates as they are about to turn 30. Kearen Pang wrote and directed this film, adapting the story from her one-woman stage show in 2005. This film has been collecting international awards even before its release.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

From the sword in the stone to the knights of the roundtable, the legend of King Arthur does have a unique timelessness. This new origin story stars Charlie Hunnam in the titular role as Arthur tries to defeat the tyrant Vortigern (Jude Law) and become king. The film is directed and written by Guy Ritchie and is reportedly planned to be a 6-film series.
