Star Wars fan must be looking forward to May the 4th. That sacred date is even more important this year as it is the 40th Anniversary of the franchise. Therefore, there will be a three-day festival right here in Singapore, 4-6 May 2017.

Here are four highlights of the event:

1. Star Wars Run

Singapore loves running events, and this newcomer is the highlight of the festival. Held on the last day of the festival, runners can choose to join the Light side or the Dark side, who will wear different attire and receive different entitlements. There will be a host of activities for Star Wars fans too, including a screening of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.

2. Light Performance

The Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay is known for its light shows. They will be different during this festival. The Supertree Grove will be transformed into ‘Sabertrees’ and there will be a 15-minute music and light show called ‘The Garden Rhapsody: Star Wars Edition’, set to the Star Wars soundtrack.  The show will play twice a night, at 7.45pm and 8.45pm, on all three days. That is not all. There will also be a silent disco on 5 and 6 May.

3. All-Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST)

Remember seeing the AT-ST for the first time in Episode V? A replica of the AT-ST will be patrolling the festival, or not. It will not move, so you can take photos of/with it without the fear of being blasted or trampled.

4. Character Appearances

Chewbacca and Kylo Ren will pop by the festival as well. This would be a great photo opportunity. They will interact with festival-goers and Star Wars run participants. Dressing up as Han Solo would work well with these two characters.

Star Wars fans should definitely attend this event. It makes the long wait for ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ a little more bearable.
