The Grammy and Tony nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles will honour the many talents who passed away in 2016/2017 with a special "In Memoriam" performance during the 89th Oscars® ceremony.

"Sara’s unique artistry will honour those we’ve lost in our community including familiar faces and those behind the scenes who have enriched the art of moviemaking," De Luca and Todd, show producers of the award show said.

Following Bareilles’ "in memoriam" performance, an extended photo gallery of more than 200 filmmakers, artists and executives will be recognised on Oscar.com.

Many notable celebrities and beloved stars were lost in 2016 and 2017. They include Prince, Gene Wilder, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Debbie Reynolds and her daughter, Carrie Fisher.
The Golden Globes allocated a short segment during its award show to pay tribute to the mother-daughter pair who left us in December.
