It was the love for music that united 18,000 people at The Float at Marina Bay, ushering the brand new year at the largest countdown party in Singapore, the Rock on! 2017 concert, featuring 12 powerful acts from 5pm until 1am.

At the stroke of midnight, the 8-minute fireworks display was a sight to remember, with thousands waiting near the Singapore river for a good photography spot.

This is the first-ever countdown concert organised by IMC Live in Singapore with the longest stage ever.

The event started with Taiwanese singer Eric Chou, who performed his famous tracks like “Let's Not Be Friend in Future” and “How Have You Been?”. Local artistes took the stage thereafter, with Gilded Edge, Chris Tong, and Ferlyn G, followed by Joi Chua, performing a medley of songs - from head-banging hits to soothing ballads.

Up next was Kenji Wu, who took the opportunity to show his comedic side, performing a hilarious parody of the viral hit “PPAP”, which had the audience in stitches. Penny Tai rocked the stage with her guitar, showcasing the rocker spirit inside of her instead of being known as just a ballad queen.

Talking about rock, no one was able to beat vocal powerhouse Shin, who belted high notes like a true rock stage. He sang his lungs out for numerous tracks like ‘One Night in Beijing’ and ‘Qian Nian Zhi Lian’, receiving thunderous applause from the crowd.

Ending the Mandopop act of the night was Rainie Yang, who shared that she had to go on drip the day before the concert due to her flu that she contracted since the week before. Despite being ill, her professionalism was admirable - completing her repertoire with her well-known crystal-clear vocals.

American band Hoobastank took over the stage with their signature songs as the crowd sang along with the band, especially for the hit track ‘The Reason’. Headliner act Alicia Keys captured every heart with her rich tone and powerful belting, bringing the stage live with her old and new hits. The crowd couldn’t help but cheer for Keys, who showed us what a true mega-star she is.

Not forgetting local pop-rock band, Shirlyn and the UnXpected, which rocked out the night, in celebration of the new year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
