Golden Village To Open Inaugural ScreenSingapore!

Singapore, 2nd June 2011 – Golden Village is proud to be hosting the opening ceremony of the inaugural ScreenSingapore at its largest cinema location, GV VivoCity, with a special presentation of the thriller, THE DEVIL INSIDE ME by director Zhang Qi and new footage from the highly anticipated film, THE MURAL.

Golden Village is the main cinema exhibitor sponsor of ScreenSingapore with a majority of screenings held at GV VivoCity. Guest of Honour, Mr Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, as well as ScreenSingapore Ambassador Zhang Ziyi will walk the red carpet at the gala premiere on Opening Night, 5th June.



ScreenSingapore will debut as an international cinema event offering a launch pad for film studios in the United States and Europe to showcase their repertoire of latest releases as well as an opportunity for Asian filmmakers to present their works to a global audience. Film industry players from around the world will convene in Singapore and participate in the various exclusive events held on the grounds of Golden Village – Singapore’s leading cinema exhibitor.

Apart from Opening Night, Golden Village will also be anchoring gala premiere screenings for THE ASSAULT, MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS, SUPER 8, BOLLYWOOD - THE GREATEST LOVE STORY EVER TOLD, WHERE THE ROAD MEETS THE SUN and JESUS HENRY CHRIST.

Although the movie premiere screenings are by invitation only, the red-carpet events are open to members of the public. So put these dates on your calendar and catch a glimpse of your favourite movie stars!

The red carpet will be graced by the likes of acclaimed directors, Gordon Chan, Yong Mun Chee and Daniel Lee, Singaporean producer Sukee Chew, Jason Spevack from JESUS HENRY CHRIST, as well as Fernando Noriega, Laura Ramsey and Luke Brandon Field from WHERE THE ROAD MEETS THE SUN. Golden Village will also play host to a line-up of exclusive, private studio presentations which are expected to attract a bevy of Hollywood heavyweights.

In addition, GV will also be supporting the award-winning Singaporean director, Kelvin Tong, with a four-day special screening of his Singapore’s box-office hits at Cinema Europa, Golden Village VivoCity.

The 2011 China Film Festival will also be taking place alongside ScreenSingapore at the same location, with a selection of five Chinese feature films, comprising award winners and China’s most expensive animated feature, THE DREAMS OF JINSHA.
